Anthony Padilla’s vividly hued paintings celebrate the beauty and vitality of the natural world through lush depictions of rainforests, tropical flora, fruit, and wildlife intertwined with fluid, abstract forms. Working in a palette of deep blues, radiant reds, and lush greens, Padilla draws inspiration from Georgia O’Keeffe and Henri Rousseau, focusing on the harmony between color and form. In works such as Casting Shade (2020), full leaves and blossoming petals ripple like flowing fabric, conveying a graceful sense of motion. Other compositions, like Falling Fruit (2020), place organic objects in dreamlike, surreal arrangements that highlight the mystery and complexity of nature. Beyond the canvas, Padilla has brought his vision to large scale through murals across New York City and Fort Worth, Texas.
