Amy Renee Webb (b. 1996) is a figurative painter whose work explores themes of tension, religion, and obscurity, shaped by her upbringing in Columbus and across Mississippi, where the region’s religious and political complexities inform her practice. Drawing inspiration from her grandmother’s kitsch, sentimental landscapes, Webb examines the contradictions of love, fear, and longing for change within overlooked communities. She earned a BFA in Painting from the University of Mississippi in 2022, following an associate degree in business from Itawamba Community College, and currently lives and works in a downtown studio in the rural art colony of Water Valley, MS. Webb has exhibited in galleries throughout Mississippi, often collaborating with the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council, and in 2023 completed her first residency at MacGown Artist Retreat and Studios in Starkville, MS, where she received a grant and presented a solo exhibition of dark landscape paintings at the Starkville Area Arts Council.
