ALLGORITHIM, in Partnership with Galerie, Presents Quel Rêve, New and Recent Paintings by Zoë Renait Opening Wednesday, April 1, 2026 - 6 to 10 PM at the Newsstand
Los Angeles - ALLGORITHIM, in partnership with Galerie, is pleased to announce Quel Rêve, an exhibition of new and recent paintings by Zoë Renait. The exhibition opens Wednesday, April 1, 2026, with a public reception from 6 to 10 PM, and marks Renait's first solo presentation in Los Angeles and her first exhibition with both galleries.
Spanning work produced over the past year alongside a focused collection of new canvases, Quel Rêve offers a sustained look at a practice in confident, deliberate motion. Renait's paintings occupy a space between the material and the imagined, scenes of leisure, intimacy, and quiet ceremony rendered in oil with an atmosphere that feels simultaneously immediate and remote. Figures move through softly charged environments where high society and organic beauty collapse into one another, where a gesture or a glance carries the weight of something half-remembered. There is a dreamlike logic to her compositions, one that refuses to fully resolve, keeping the viewer suspended in a state of attentive uncertainty.
This quality of suspension is not incidental. Renait, who studied psychology and presented research on mindfulness at Harvard, approaches painting as a practice rooted in perception and inner experience. Her canvases are less concerned with narrative than with atmosphere, with the emotional residue of a moment, the feeling of being present within something that cannot quite be named. Objects become symbolic. Spaces become psychological. The boundary between the luxurious and the sacred, the real and the surreal, is consistently and deliberately blurred.
Raised in the stillness of the Midwest and now working from Long Beach, Renait has developed a visual language shaped by observation, escapism, and a deep attentiveness to the liminal. Los Angeles, its convergence of glamour, fantasy, and the natural world, has become a generative environment for that sensibility, and its influence registers quietly throughout the work: in light, in surface, in the sense that beauty here is always slightly too good to be real.
Zoë Renait (b. 1996, Carbondale, Illinois) lives and works in Long Beach, California. Quel Rêve is her first exhibition with ALLGORITHIM and Galerie.
