A Polished Old Hollywood-Inspired Supper Club Heads to the Sunset Strip

Galerie opens in the former Den space

A sleek new dinner and cocktail destination is headed to a prime slot on the Sunset Strip. Galerie will open on November 6 in the former Den on Sunset, which shuttered in March 2025 after 16 years. The restaurant from founders Trae Meyer-Whalley and Simon Pompan will serve a bistro-tinged menu from executive chef Gabriel Lindsey (Dudley Market) with partner Ben Ford in a dining room that channels Old Hollywood.

Galerie's menu will center California ingredients, spotlighted in dishes like shrimp cocktail laid on a bed of ice with caper rémoulade and sweet potatoes grilled over charcoal until the outside is blackened, then split in half and drizzled with chopped fermented chilis, maple butter, and lime. Blistered kernels dot a late summer corn salad alongside ribbons of zucchini, while Gruyère and a French onion sauce blanket the Galerie burger.

Larger mains will include pan-roasted chicken bedded in a shallow pool of lemon, capers, garlic confit, and brown jus, as well as New York strip steak topped with peppers.

Dushan Zaric, co-founder of iconic New York City bar Employees Only, will lead Galerie's bar program with drinks like the Double Take, a butterfly pea powder mezcal cocktail with elderflower, passionfruit, and amaro. The Harvey Wallbanger, an orange juice and vodka cocktail popularized in the 1970s, is reworked with blood orange vodka, Galliano, chamomile, and clarified citrus, while the Flying Grasshopper blends reposado tequila with crème de menthe, crème de cacao, and vanilla ice cream. Zero-proof options include the chamomile, fig, and elderflower tonic Clean Sheet and the False Promise with ginger beer and jasmine sencha.

Diners will enter Galerie through a doorway obscured by red velvet curtains that leads to a marble-clad outdoor patio. Jake Santelli and Brandon Quattrone led the design for the restaurant, sourcing sturdy, round-legged wood dining tables to pair with cane cantilever chairs. Inside, two red leather banquettes flank a walnut DJ booth and two-top tables with the same chairs as the patio trace the outline of the room.

Galerie will also function as an event space, with regular DJs, listening parties, jazz nights, and art exhibitions curated by Tyler Santangelo; the restaurant will open with a show from artist Samual Elliot Phillips.

In a year that has brought a seemingly unending series of closures to West Hollywood and the Sunset Strip, the revival of a beloved Den space is sure to infuse the bustling strip with new energy.

Galerie is located at 8226 Sunset Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA 90046 and is open Tuesday to Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Thursday to Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.
