Luke Haeger (b. 1993) is a contemporary artist whose practice examines humanism, authorship, and meaning within a post-postmodern, technologically accelerated world. Working across drawing, annotation, sound, and image, Haeger prioritizes the physical trace of the artist's hand as a counterpoint to the abstraction and automation shaping contemporary culture.
Educated at UCLA and having nearly completed his BFA at CalArts, Haeger's trajectory diverged from traditional academic pathways toward a more speculative and interdisciplinary direction. His work draws on a gonzo-style, dream-journal methodology, merging illustration and text to engage signs, symbols, and shifting cultural narratives. Through distinct, expressive mark-making, he constructs visual fields that function as both personal records and broader cultural critiques.
Haeger is a resident artist at Praxis, a multidisciplinary initiative developing a new city in the Mediterranean that integrates architecture, philosophy, and art as tools for societal reimagination. While based in New York City, his practice remains deeply informed by Praxis's ethos, operating at the intersection of artistic production and speculative thought.
Across mediums, Haeger's work reflects an ongoing pursuit of artistic freedom and existential inquiry. Rooted in experimentation and resistance to fixed forms, his practice positions the artist as both observer and builder-mapping new terrain where creativity, philosophy, and lived experience converge.
