Falling The Same Way: Trevor Zank

Overview

Trevor Zank’s online solo exhibition, Falling The Same Way, will be on view from December 5th through January 5th. This online presentation offers an open invitation for viewers to immerse themselves in Zank’s reflective and deeply tactile practice, inspired by the energy, patterns, and textures of the world around him.

Falling the Same Way showcases two years of work created while living and working in downtown Los Angeles. The series explores the impressions left behind on the city streets, from layers of paint-covered tags to weathered surfaces, and translates these moments into abstract compositions. Zank’s subconscious response to the environment becomes a visual record of his daily experiences, capturing the unseen beauty in a seemingly decaying mess.

Living within this overstimulating environment, where the dust never seems to settle, forces us to find significance in things often overlooked. Through this body of work, Zank explores how our surroundings shape our perception, inviting the viewer to engage in a mindfulness that challenges and redefines what we consider beautiful in a cityscape.
