Black Polished Chrome: Samual Elliot Phillips
Black Polished Chrome, Samual Elliot Phillips' second solo show with ALLGORITHIM, stages a funeral for overbearing gestures. In charcoal, acrylic, and inkjet transfer, Phillips moves from WARSAW's reconstruction toward reduction, seeking a quiet Americana amid over-saturation.
ALLGORITHIM is pleased to present Black Polished Chrome, the second solo exhibition by Samual Elliot Phillips with the gallery. The exhibition is on view at ALLGORITHIM House from November 7 through December 31, 2026, with an opening reception on Saturday, November 7, from 6 to 9 PM.
In the new collection, black polished chrome stages a funeral for ineffective and overbearing gestures. Phillips searches the past and the present for pleasantries that satisfy a simple conviction: less is more. The works are made against a constant cloud of over-saturation, a condition in which desire itself is scrambled.
Against that noise, the collection looks for ground. It holds out hope for an Americana found not in spectacle, but in moments of quiet freedom.
The exhibition follows WARSAW, Phillips' first solo exhibition with ALLGORITHIM. WARSAW served as the physical extension of The Material World, an online exhibition presented exclusively through ALLGORITHIM and Artsy from June 20 to August 10, 2025. Where The Material World introduced eight mixed-media works on canvas in digital form, WARSAW presented a new body of work conceived specifically for a physical setting.
That title named an internal terrain rather than a place: a register of tension, transformation, and reconstruction. Black Polished Chrome moves from reconstruction toward reduction. Where WARSAW worked through upheaval, the new work asks what remains worth keeping.
Phillips works in charcoal, acrylic, and inkjet transfer, materials tied to immediacy and instinct. His palettes are stripped back, his surfaces raw, his marks direct. The work prioritizes urgency over refinement. Imperfection becomes a tool for clarity, and the traces of process remain visible.
